No Surprises Act & the Good Faith Estimate

To honor your privacy and allow you to benefit from specialized services through Thrive Therapy, Inc., we are not in network with any insurance companies and are self-pay only. We can supply you with a Superbill to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, though reimbursement is not guaranteed. For insurance companies to determine if reimbursement is possible, they will require mental health diagnoses regardless of the client’s reason for attending therapy. This diagnosis will stay on your record as a pre-existing condition and could impact future health coverage. We ask our prospective clients to research possible out-of-network (OON) benefits prior to beginning treatment, and to understand regardless of the OON benefits, that you will be responsible for 100% of the session fee at the time of the appointment.

By Thrive having a self-pay practice, our patients know exactly what the cost of services are without surprises later. You are billed session-by-session, and only after reading and signing our Informed Consent and Financial Agreement forms as well as having a clear understanding of pricing before we ever schedule an initial Intake evaluation. You agree to pay out-of-pocket for all sessions at the time of service, which will be verbally discussed as well as outlined in writing for you.

The Good Faith Estimate cannot predict additional fees, including but not limited to, legal fees, missed appointment fees, medical record requests, etc. Please know Thrive has always valued 100% transparency with all aspects of treatment, including billing.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
